Das Rothsee Triathlon Festival ist jedes Jahr wieder etwas ganz Besonderes für mich.
Hier hat alles angefangen: Die Begeisterung für den Triathlon und meine eigene Sportlerkarriere. Schon als Kind war ich am Rothsee dabei – ich bewunderte die Großen der Triathlonszene und nahm selbst am Kindertriathlon teil.
Das Rennen über die olympische Distanz startete bei warmen 24° Wassertemperatur – und ohne Neoprenanzug. Beim Start wurde ich etwas eingekeilt und verpasste die schnellste Gruppe, konnte die 1,5 km lange Strecke durch den Rothsee aber trotzdem schnell absolvieren. Als erste Frau kam ich aus dem Wasser und mit 20 Sekunden Vorsprung ging es in die erste Wechselzone!
Der Radkurs erlaubte es mir, meine Stärken voll auszuspielen. Auf der 42 km langen Strecke durch den Landkreis Roth baute ich meinen Vorsprung auf sechs Minuten aus!
Auch die abschließenden 10 km Laufen bargen keine großen Überraschungen. Ich vergrößerte meinen Abstand zu den Verfolgerinnen noch und lief zum 8. Mal in Roth als Siegerin ins Ziel!
Der schönste Moment des Wettkampfes: Von meinem größten Fan erwartet zu werden. Meine Nichte Sofie hatte sich am Streckenende schon in Position gebracht und lief gemeinsam mit mir über die Ziellinie!

My family is always present – and I find lots of familiar faces among my competitors and spectators every time. At the Rothsee Triathlon, I can be sure to meet friends and fans. This is a big incentive!
The olympic distance race started at a very warm water temperature of 24 degrees. Therefore, neoprene suits weren't allowed! I missed the fastest group during the very crowded start but could still get an advantage during the 1,5 km swim through the Rothsee. I got out of the water and into T1 as the first woman with a 20 seconds lead!
The cycling course played to my strengths. During the 42 km race through the middle-franconian region, I secured my advantage and was six minutes ahead of the chase group when I reached T2.
The final 10 kilometres of running held no surprises, either. I was able to increase the gap between me and the chasers and won the Rothsee Triathlon for the 8th time!
The greatest moment of my race: Being greeted by my biggest fan. My niece Sofie was already wating for me at the goal and we crossed the finishing line together!
